040111: I'd lose my head.....

It's official, I would completely lose my head if it wasn't screwed on to the rest of my body.  Obviously, it's Friday.  So granted I'm a little beat from the week.

'A' made it successfully through her first week of school.  And I am very proud and happy to say that she aced her first official spelling test at Coyote Ridge Elementary School.  Ray and Ry are nicely adjusting to the new schedule of actually being out of the house by 8 am.  (My kids are usually up at the crack of dawn, it seems.  But we usually don't actually get out of the house until later in the day.)  And luckily we've had phenomenal weather, so we've been able to go to the park alot.

But back to me losing my head...... I have once again misplaced my second camera.  And if I don't find it, some pictures will be lost since I misplaced it pre-download.  (I think my kiddos have sticky fingers.)  Ry had a really bad day due to teething.  And I can't seem to be right on time to pick up 'A' from school.  I know, bad mommy.  And I now out of nowhere, Lightening McQueen (one of Ray's mainstays), w/ the non-moving eyes, is missing.  I had so many things going on this evening, I actually found myself walking in a circle trying to remember what it was I was suppose to be doing.  Oh well, like I said, it's the end of the week.

I did want to show you my 'EatPrayLove Baby' bedding set completed.  I delivered it to Kathryn this week.  It's definitely one of my faves to date.

030211: Common 'TV' Land....

Since today is TV day, I totally had plans of talking about the Oscars.  All the way from Red Carpet to Oprah's after party in the Kodak theatre.  But my DVR did not record the Oscars.  And I did not realize this until yesterday morning.  UGH!!!!  I literally almost had a kanipshin fit.  I mean since I wasn't able to watch them 'Live', I was literally acting like Jimmy Fallon in 'Fever Pitch' when he didn't want to know the score of the game cause he couldn't be there and was trying to save the moment.

So what does a girl like me do? I immediately call my sister to make sure she has it recorded and one of her teenage sons has not deleted it.  Phew!  She has it!  Problem solved.  Except for I still haven't had a chance to watch it.  Oh well, I guess no review of the Oscars.

But how 'bout A.I?  The boys sang last night.  And for the most part they all sounded good.  I say that, as if I sing.  (I cannot sing.)  But I go for entertainment and what song performances are memorable.  I can remember 5 off the top of my head that stood out.  The kid that looks like Seth Rogen, the guy who sings awesome and soft and reminds me of 'Spike' from the movie 'Notting Hill', the kid who did not do a good Usher perfomance, the guy who sounded good singing one of the late, great Luther Vandross' songs, and the Redheaded kid who made me wish I had that much body in my hair.  Now don't think that I'm not fully invested, even though I don't really know any of these contestants' names.  This happens to be the "beginning" fun.  Giving everyone nicknames and then if they stick around knowing their first and last name.

Anyhow, I told you that I'd show you my new project.  And yes it is a quilt.  But it is beautiful.  The very nice lady that I'm making it for is prego with her first baby.  And on a trip to India, she bought and brought home gorgeous sari material.  Here's a quick sample:

022411: Bear with me

Be prepared to see my blog go through some cosmetic changes.  All the blogs I follow have these really nice, cutesie backgrounds and headers.  And naturally, as the new kid on the block, I want one too.

I found a website: shabbyblogs.com that has super duper cute backgrounds/ headers for free.  So I tried to upload one and it kinda worked, but not completely.  Errrrrr.  I am a little irritated cause my non-techy-ness, which I feel I do a pretty good job of keeping under the radar, is totally being put on blast.  But never fear, I am determined to make this work.

So just bear with me all.  It will look cute in the end.

Sick, sick, sick!!!!

Ugh!!!  I am sooooo O-V-E-R being sick!  Yes, once again my babies are miserable and so am I.  But no more feeling bad for myself.  We are on the mend and will be back in action.

Before the stuffy noses made their second appearances, I was able to finish a few blankets and do a Benefit for Haiti.  (My first faire! Yay!)  Here's the gallery:

Where are they now....

Let me show you the new homes of some of my "snugglies"..............

This is Ray's CARS snugglie.  This snugglie is a double agent: pretend roadmap by day, comforter by night.

This is my friend's son, Kawika.  The snugglie "Kawika" is now his to own.  I gave it to him for his 4th b-day, and apparently he loves it so much he refers to it in the third person.  What's not to love about this!!!

This is Mica's Christmas gift.  He love construction trucks.  So of course its fitting to have him to have a snugglie fashioned after his favs.

Stay tuned for more "Now and Then" pics.  (By the by, I realize you never were really able to see Mica or Ray's "then" pics.  But their "now" pics are still blog worthy.)

Forever Projects...

So I've been working on gifts, and are waiting until after Xmas to post pictures of them.  But I have now caught myself in a rut as towards blogging about whats been going on.  I guess its just been the regular stuff: playing cars with Ray, making sure Ry doesn't eat the ornaments, etc.  Oh right now the munchkins and Trav are sick.  Which is no fun.  I'm not sick, yet.  But I'm sure by this weekend I'll follow suit.  It seems to always happen that way.  Anyhoo, I figured I did have a project I could share with you and swatches of the next.

And this is one in the works.  This is going to be for my Big boy for Xmas.  I can't wait to get started on it and finish it.  And see the look upon his face when he opens it.  Keep posted to see the finished project.  I'll also be posting smidgens of other in the works projects.  So until then, TTFN, Ta Ta For Now.

I heart my snugglies!

So I haven't really had a chance to showcase some of my new snugglies (this is something that my kids now call their special blankies) to you.  I've been trying to experiment and take the best pictures of them.  That way you can actually see how cozy, luxe, and special they are.  But how do you show something so 3-D in only 2-D?  Always a problem.  Anyhoo.....

This is 'Maya Jade'.  R&Rs daycare provider/my friend had her baby.  I wanted to try something a little new, so I decided to hand embroider her name and birthdate on one of the corners.  As towards the fabric choice, I remembered that Maya's mama once told me that as a project for her children's center she had them learn about butterflies.  And they got caterpillars and watched as they went through every step until it was time for the butterflies to take flight.  She said that it was really cool for the kids to see new life.  I already had this fabric, but hadn't done anything with it.  But when I got the news that Maya had been born, it was like the fabric had been waiting for her.  And I'm happy to report, Mama and baby are doing well and are loving the new snugglie.

Awhile back I realized that I didn't have a lot of boy snugglies.  So I've been trying to come up with masculine fabric combinations.  This combination, Trav's sister helped me come up with back in March. And I'm just now getting to putting it all together (Shame!).  Its kinda hard to tell what the print is, but it is this little bear camping.  And T's sis, picked out some cute dotted fabric, to imagine real stars and this other one that looked kinda like leaves.  I really liked how it turned out.  Its probably one of my favorites, because the edge is ultrasoft and fluffy.
Camping Out

This one was super fun!  I found this dinosaur print and just loved how animated they looked with their googlie eyes.  But I didn't really see anything else to combine it with.  So after staring at my fabrics for a long while, getting frustrated, then stashing it away, then taking it out again......I finally thought I was over it.  Then I found this blue squiggly looking fabric in my remnants, and thought, I think these dinosaurs could be herbivores (can you tell I have a toddler into dinosaurs and yes we do read dinosaur books, have puppets, and watch dinosaur related things, and was amazed that some dinosaur names have changed since I was a kid?).  So I thought, "This blue fabric looks like it could be funky leaves that my funky eyed dinosaurs would love to eat."  And then came the creation of 'Dining with the Dinos'.
Dining with The Dinos
I also made a sport themed snugglie for T's boss' wife who is expecting this Xmas.  But I made it the night before the baby shower and didn't get a chance to take pics of it.  So sorry there's nothing to see, but that one was really cute as well.

And for the holiday season, I have finished R&Rs stockings

From now until the week before Xmas, I am in a sewing frenzy to make gifts.  So come and check out more soon :-).
